A series of commentaries on the Septuagint that interacts with Philo and the Church fathers.

Or, at least, many but not all in series provide lists of pre-modern commentaries on the book in question (see also Consult Lists of Pre-Modern Commentaries): Schürmann on Luke, Schnackenburg on John, Schneider on Acts, Schlier on Romans (but only minimally, and without being organized by period), Mussner on Galatians, Gnilka on Ephesians, Gnilka on Colossians, Gnilka on Philippians, Gnilka on Philemon, Mußner on James, Schnackenburg on the Johannines, Schelkle on the Petrines & Jude. The similarly-named Herders theologischer Kommentar zum alten Testament does not seem to be similarly committed. Or, at least, does not tend to provide such lists.

The claim, at least, is that “The Historical Commentary on the Old Testament . . . devotes explicit attention to the history of interpretation of biblical tradition in all its stages, both within and without the Hebrew canon."
