You will be assigned to work with a group in your academic major area of study. Each student will present for 5 minutes, so a group of three will prepare a 15-minute presentation, while a group of two will prepare a 10-minute presentation. Your group will develop and present the following information:
4. What are some challenges faced by professionals in this field? What is influencing these challenges?
5. Each student per group: Find someone with a job in the occupation you are interested in. Interview the person (excluding SPU professors). You should find out:
Each student will include their findings within the group presentation. Include their name, date, and time you interviewed them, business/organization, title, and credentials. (Note: Interviews cannot take place via email, text, or social media apps.) Plan to conduct an in-person, Zoom, or phone interview.
Presentation slides should be professional, concise, and visually appealing. Slides should use words minimally and rely on graphics/pictures, and phrases (not full sentences). One video can be used per presentation, but it cannot be longer than 1 minute in length. Presentations should be practiced in advance to align with the time limits specified above. Presentations that go over by more than one minute will be halted. The inability to cover all required content will result in a loss of points.
The last slide should include references. A minimum of three professional references must be cited, including where you obtained information on careers, compensation, and professional challenges. Professional references should be limited to peer-reviewed journal articles, textbooks published with the last 5 years, professional membership websites, and government websites.
Students should split the presentation time equally among group members. Presentation slides are due to Canvas by 3:00 p.m. the day of the scheduled presentations.
