Question: I did not find the film I want to show in any of the library's streaming services. What are my options?
Answer: Contact your liaison librarian. Sometimes one of our streaming platforms will add a film upon our request.
Question: Can I show a film using my personal paid streaming account (e.g. Netflix) in class?
Answer: Most content accessible through services such as Netflix and Amazon is for personal use only. When you signed up for your account, you agreed to certain terms that do not allow for public/educational showings. However, some films may be exempt. For example see Netflix's "Educational screening of documentaries" page.
Question: Can I require students to have a paid personal streaming account (e.g. Netflix)?
Answer: Some professors do require students to obtain access to the commercial streaming services that they will be using for required films in a class. They consider this the same as requiring a textbook. Please explore all other options before making this requirement and consider how you will accommodate any students who cannot afford this option.
