SOC 2351 Living on the Margins: Cities in the Global South

Introduction

The more academic University of Washington electronic resources you must be on the UW campus to use.  The less academic public library--most especially Seattle Public Library (SPL)--electronic resources you should be able to access remotely once you've set up an account, most especially an SPL account (but feel free to contact me for help with this!).

Note that just about any database will allow you to limit your searches to a specific ISSN or (as in the case below) newspaper/magazine/journal Title:

A Comment on the Importance of Trying Also the University of Washington Databases in Particular

Reproduced below are most of the hits in the UW database Sociological Abstracts NOT present, not just in the SPU database SocINDEX, but in ANY of the EBSCOhost databases offered by SPU.  Search of the former was simply (subject(Lagos) AND subject(crim*)), yielding 22 peer-reviewed articles on 23 October 2025.  Thus at least 5 of just those 22 would not have been found in ANY of the EBSCOhost databases offered by SPU.  A couple of these, of course, are on Lagos State more generally:
