The SPU Library Online

From the SPU Library website, you can access hundreds of thousands of ebooks and millions of online articles from magazines, newspapers, trade publications, and academic journals.

Click on the tabs for "Books & Ebooks" and "Articles" on this subject guide for specific instructions.

The SPU Library also has limited streaming video available through Kanopy and Swank Digital Campus. Usually these are films that professors have requested for specific classes, but you are welcome to view any film that we a have a license for. Other online streaming databases that we provide are: Academic Video Online and Theatre in Video. All content in these services is available without request.

You may also be interested in our online archival collections. These are available through Digital Commons.

Summit Libraries

Orbis cascade alliance logo

The SPU Library belongs to a consortium of 37 college and university libraries in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho called the Orbis Cascade Alliance. The name of the catalog for this consortium is Summit.

The Summit Library members share their books, DVDs, CDs and other materials with each other, serving over 275,000 students.

As an SPU student, you may visit any member and check out books from that institution. If you live near a Summit Library, then you can make that your "home" library. Visit the library with your SPU ID or other proof of enrollment. Most likely the library will call the SPU Library to verify your enrollment. Then you will be able to request items from all across the consortium and have them sent to that library.
