Though I will be making changes over time, some of the material on this course guide was created originally by my predecessor in History, the inimitable Adrienne Meier.
Doing History Research
When doing history research, remember these things:
Books are often helpful, and sometimes more helpful than articles
You don't need to read a whole book; find the chapter or section about your topic and read that (use a table of contents or index to find the relevant section)
More recent doesn't necessarily mean better; an item published at the time of an event may be just as useful as a later item
