Step 1: Keep in mind your purpose, your audience, and your evidence

Step 2: Ask the following questions about each source

  • Is the source relevant?
  • What are the author’s credentials?
  • What is the stance or perspective?
  • Who is the publisher?
  • Who is the sponsor (for a website)?
  • At what level is it written?
  • How current is it?
  • Is it cited in other works?
  • Is it available?
  • Does it include a bibliography?
